WORCESTER, Mass. – Killswitch Engage has been confirmed as the headliner of the 14th Annual New England Metal and Hardcore Festival.
The festival helped to launch the career of the Westfield, Mass., band and the festival vets went on to sign with Roadrunner Records. Also, I hope to whoever will listen that Overkill and Iwrestleabearonce are actually playing back to back....I might go just to see those two worlds collide

Nile, Fleshgod, and Hour of Penance are all that's worthwhile Friday. Overkill and Aborted Saturday (Wonder who the headliner is...probably someone really shitty.) And I could deal with Periphery, although I greatly preferred them pre-emo-singer.
The lineup looks exactly like last years festival and every other metalcore/deathcore show that comes through here. I'd like to see diamond plate. Hmm maybe we can steal them for a one off show
Also the majority of acceptable and listenable bands back then were greater. That being said, it was always a battleground for "metalheads" and "hardcore sxe" people. I dont want to know what its like now.
I've never been to this, although I sort of wanted to the year that Trouble played (still never got to see Trouble and have given up that hope).
I later heard that their set was 20 minutes.
I came close to buying tickets in 2008, when Overkill cancelled two days prior. That was a close one.
Friday: Morbid Angel before they became Radikult, Napalm Death (though long washed up at this point), Converge presumably Jane Doe era? Not a fan of any of their other albums. Bongzilla. DEP, Exhumed, Benumb. Okay, not bad.
Saturday: GWAR is always fun, Catheter... what the fucking hell is all that other shit?

That was well before DEP put out Calculating Infinity then too... but on the other hand, that had to have been right when both Benumb and Exhumed were right at the peak of their game, that I would have wanted to see. Too bad I was only 10 years old.
So I would have gone to Friday, passed on the rest.
The first year was and will always be the best year.
This. Was there. Fucking good times. Think I went to the first 4 maybe The last one I actually went to was the one when I passed out the NEIWP comps. 2005 maybe?
Not that I care a lot, but do we know if the mystery headliner soundclip posted a few days ago is for the TBA headliner? Or was it a Killswitch Engage clip? I didn't recognize it but my guess was Superjoint Ritual. Guy's voice sounded a little like Phil.

The clip was Killswitch Engage. Superjoint Ritual broke up permanently as far as I know. They were pretty terrible anyway.
I'm eyeing the small-print bands here and there to see if Saturday has just enough interesting bands for me to want to go. There was a decent band from Michigan called Battlecross listed near the bottom for a couple of weeks, but the last time I checked, they were off.

1st one was '99
The cool thing was that Upsidedown Cross was playing their own gig across town that night at the Lucky Dog. So I went to see Exhumed and Benumb, ran across town to see the Cross, and then made it back in time for Morbid Angel.
