i fully support this, seat belts and helmets should be mandatory for 18 and younger, and then it is at the persons discretion. this guy paid for it, but probably because he was dumb.
I heard about this yesterday, also heard that the officer representing the state troopers was quoted saying something to the effect of "If he'd been wearing his helmet he probably would have survived." I lulled.
"The medical expert we discussed the case with who pronounced him deceased stated that he would've no doubt survived the accident had he been wearing a helmet," state Trooper Jack Keller told ABC News 9 in Syracuse.
This would win the irony awards, but not a Darwin Award. Doesn't exhibit an astounding lack of judgement. People ride motorcycles without helmets and live all the time.
Did anyone happen to drive through Union Sq last night? There was a Vespa crash that somehow warranted about 10 police cruisers shutting down Somerville Ave for at least 2 hours.
People ride motorcycles without helmets and live all the time.
still sounds like a pretty astounding lack of judgement to me.
It wouldn't be considered one by the Darwin Awards judging panel, mostly because it's so mundane. I remember reading a story about a highly experienced sky diver jumping out of a plane one and forgetting to put on a chute pack first. Now THAT'S poor judgement!
