Which place do people hate the most? |
i hate the palladium so fucking much. i was staring in awe as i watched rhapsodys drum solo...because watching it was the only way i could actually figure out what he was playing...because i couldnt hear shit. most muted solo ever. fuck the palladium. worst sound ever. |
The Chopping Block, Dee Dees Lounge, The Bombshelter |
the block and dee dee's are were/are great clubs |

a drum solo is just intermission so you can take a leak and get a drink |
it was a terrible solo anyways. i was just waiting for the unicorns and dragons to descend |
bombshelter, no ventilation smoke factory, doesn't promote any shows, sound sucks, especially onstage.
choppin block was a good time, but no room for anyone to stand or move around.
dee dee's, no moshing. poles in front of the stage, a weird platform that's just in the way. had fun nonetheless. |
Dive bars should not be judged by the same standards as places that charge $15 - $30 admission.

I didn't know rhapsody/manowar played at the chopping block. Would they charge $5 admission? |

unless there are 7 members in your band, then you're too crowded on stage/floor to hear anything. |
Bombshelter gets my vote. We practice only about 5 minutes away, but we won't play there ever again unless somebody else buys it. |

i agree |

Serge already charges the under 21 crowd $15... give him a year, if he hasn't gone under or sold the place he'll be trying to charge $30
Bomb Shelter this: |
it's got to be The Living Rooma as far as getting ripped off...the owners son "Charlie" now owns it after his dad got in a serious car wreck, and
he has both a "little" gambling and drug problem...so regardless of if you
bring in 500 people or not..your gonna get reemed. |
never been to the bomb shelter, never been to jarrods, been to the palladium a few times years back. fucking hated it so much, vowed never to return and have stuck to my guns. and I have no interest in going to the other 2 places either. FUCK 'EM ALL!!! |
no one has mentioned the webster theatre or toads place |
webster theater sucks ass, especially the suburb around it. no moshing allowed.
toads place seemed like a pretty rad place. only been there once. |
Sydney's in Lawerence was the worst club ever. Nothing like playing in front of drugged up, 50+ coke whores and fat latino sluts. |

We played there several years ago. No one was there and my drummer and basis were getting harrassed by a carload of latinos when they walked to the store for cigs. |
what do you expect when you book a gig in lawrence |
grief once played the front row sports bar in lawrence. after like 4 songs the owner said people just wanted to hear the juke box. he said if we stop playing he'll pay us a $100 and let us drink for free all night. actually turned out pretty good. |

Yeah, of all the shitholes in MA, I would say Lawrence just about wins. |
hey grief guy, remember the show in concord,nh in like 2000 with as the sun sets? bowl of bread? iranach? |
I think I missed that one. it was probably at chantilleys |
i dont remember, i know we played that chantilleys place before. |

That sounds like the greatest show ever.
That's like getting sent home from work early and still getting paid for the whole day.
yeah, i asked if we could be the house band and do that every week. |
the_reverend said: I think I missed that one. it was probably at chantilleys |
nope it was just at an american legion where a couple of shows were held. |
they are too fucking small. we have a 5 piece, well 6 at the time and it was impossible to fit our drummers collosal set and not to mention that the rest of the band arent exactly small people. i like to move around and not worry that i am going to be decapitated by the guitars |

Yeah, but that's not really the club's fault. Its a dive bar. What do you expect? Bars should not be judged by the same standards as venues that book national touring acts.
Lately I've seen lots of people here bitch about the three clubs I listed and they were legit gripes about things the club can totally control. I was just wondering which one is the most hated.

oh.. I was using the "text only" version so I didn't know this was a poll.
note to self: add polls to the text version. |
I hate Jarrod's solely because of the his piss poor management. It could be really nice club if he didn't have his head up his ass and stopped thinking that rap-core is still the biggest thing to hit the music scene.
My only gripe with the Palladium is the sound. |
at least the palladium actually pulls in quite a few bands people actually want to see. I've seen bands at the palladium upstairs and downstairs with good sound. Blame it on the soundguys bands bring in, not the club itself. |
i cannot make a decision here... i hate all 3 |
the palladium looks cool the people who work there are ok book good shows its just most of the time the sound sucks if they bring in big binds like motorhead its sounds ok for some reason |
jarrods. or the sad cafe. |

a lot of those bands have thier own sound guys.
tom, i think part of the blame has to go to the club. specifically, the person/s in charge of hiring shitty sound guys.
also, my experience with the security there is that some of them are ok, but a lot of them are dickheads/tuffguys. |

Get out. |
id say jarrods, but the shelter comes in at a close second. |
drifters gets my vote. no swearing, moshing, drinking, outdoor voices or fun. |

The under 21 no readmittance thing at the Bombshelter is totally fucking gay. I couldn't fucking breathe when I was there but I wasn't about to spend my gas money on a second ticket. |
Only thing I have good to say of the Bombshelter is,it is accessible to me, where as the Palladiium and Jarrod's are really not, I been to jarrod's but that was a pain in the ass ,waitin like an hour for the owner to show up with the key for the elevator lift thing.Other than that #1 all the way |
i hate every club that uses "wizard security" |
it's funny to see Jarrod's beating the Bombshelter for most votes for worst venue |

it's probably Jim getting everyone he knows to vote jarrods. |
