is that dwyer on the right? |
Joe I dont understand this flyer. Who is that guy in the picture? |
it's a bald guy with a huge rifle, and his kid, his wife is there too, but harder to see because of the show information over her ugly mug.

BestialOnslaught said: ABHORRED should be headlining this! |
So the place would clear out after everyone who came to see Cephalic left? Also, so we would open our own cd release show? Not the best idea... |
Anthony, stop typing. Forever. |
How big is the upstairs room? is there any chance it is going to sell out? |
Hooker said: Anthony, stop typing. Forever. |
Can do. Oh.. whoops |
Goddamit- the above two posts are me |
Upstairs is I think 150 max. I might be pulling that out of my ass though.
im just going to get there at 8 so that way i should get a ticket if it does sell out |
Yes do that. That is a smart idear. |
aww DOUBLE PISS!! First the grind and doom fest now this.... |
good thing i'm getting all of my finals done this week so i can go to this!!! (knock on wood) anyone know where a cheap or free place to park is around there??? i don't mind walking a bit... |
how much is this going to cost by the way?? |
upstairs is 196, but that includes bands and guestlisted people
this show is $10 |
MarkFuckingRichards said: good thing i'm getting all of my finals done this week so i can go to this!!! (knock on wood) anyone know where a cheap or free place to park is around there??? i don't mind walking a bit... |
I know a place that's probably about a 20 minute walk away in Harvard Square. Technically its private parking, but the lot is never is even close to being full so no one would notice and make it a problem if you parked there.
It's right across from Mather House (one of the Harvard dorm complexes) which is located at 10 Coperthwaite (sp?) St. if you wanna look it up. |

I always park in that $1.00 an hour garage like 2 blocks away.
thanks anthony and dwyer; i'll keep both of those in mind. is there on street parking near the middle east? |
Doubtful, but on a Monday you might luck out. |
sweet deal. i'll manage to find a space somehow |
there is 2 free lots 1 block from the club, go down mass ave, turn at star bucks down prospect, there are lots that are free after 5 on either side of the road. |
I'm going to ride my bike to this show...All the way from Gill, Mass. |
How much is this show again? |
Wait, I'm an idiot. It's 10 bucks. |
Take a right at the McDonalds, left if your coming from Harvard square. There is a lot behind McDonalds and if you go left out of that parking lot there is another about 2 blocks up on the left. |
awesome, free parking rules |
So I'm probably going to take the T to this show and I'm wondering if anyone could give me a ride home since I'll be there after the T shuts down. My house is like a 10 minute drive from the Middle East and it's near 93. |

I have no car, but I might have a floor for you to crash on nearby if you really need it. I'm not sure I'll be staying in Cambridge after the show though- I'll probably be going wherever the post-cd release party goes. |
i soiled myself in anticipation of this show. |

i'll probably be able to give you a ride; that is if i even have the money to go this show after all, haha. bills and small paychecks suck. i'll keep you posted though.

Im so psyched for this show- I think all three bands we're playing with are amazing. |

and oh yeah, i'm happy all the bands are amazing but i'm only going to see Abhorred ! |
I think I just blew out my O ring taking a dump. Oh yeah this show is going to be awesome. |
Someone should dress up like King Arthur for this show. |
I don't have the money to buy a suit of armor. |
just cover your rapist vest in tinfoil |
Good call Ben, thanks for the advice. |
I would just like to add that rape is appauling, I would never condone or encourage such a grotesque act of perversion. Unless of course, she was under 18 years old. |
and if it was in the woods, under a big oak tree, so you could force her to carve your initials and hers inside of a heart on the tree |

The possibilities are endless |

I'm bringing my protege to this show, will be his first Boston show. |
i wanna get high with cephalic |

dammit why aren't we on that show too...bastards ! |
i'm committed to shoot the 1st 10 minutes of the Mars Volta in Worcester but I'd like to catch at least Cephalic (seein how I missed 'em Friday) so Joe, if you could even approximate when the headliners will play, I can sort of form a strategy...TMV show starts at 8 and there's only one other act I know of on that bill so I'm thinking my chances are pretty decent. |
Fuck Mars Volta, this is Cryptic Warning we're talking about... Cephalic blah blah... we know who the REAL headliner is... Cryptic Warning is going to kick some ass (and they'd better not change their name after this show or they're dead) |
yeah yeah. i actually am committed to do that (mars volta) and cephalic are my friends. just looking for some info. you don't like TMV so I assume you're not going. good for you. |
What time is Mars Volta on? I'd say Cephalic Carnage will be hitting the stage around 11:30
Fuck em... fuck mars volta... cryptic warning is playing... where's my BOUR-BON!?! |
who the hell is mars volta? |
I don't know... fuck em... who the hell cares |

I am gonna skip my show to catch Mars Volta at the Gayladdium |
All I know is that the globe did a piece the other day heralding the return of high brow 70's style prog rock with the ascent of bands like Mars Volta and Queens of The Stone age... and I just laughed at how misguided and worthless the globe art section is... they should have Dean Koontz do the music reviews... couldn't be any worse... of course he once refferred to Pearl Jam as a 'far out heavy metal band' in one of his novels... but at least the reviews would be rife with voodoo demons, bad hackneyed sex scenes and veiled refferences to Christian mythology. |

I wish I could freaking make this. |
Bah... the excuses... you'd all better go...this is cryptic warning...cryptic warning is in the building! I'm getting pretty psyched, I haven't seen the band in a while... I'm even more psyched than I was for the big Ruin gig, because my hype hasn't been dampened by them having a new singer nor nuthin'..this is cryptic warning...vintage...and all must be there! Actually Phil might die after doing a double set of random acts and cryptic... I don't know if that has happened yet...novelty all around... be there...or be broads! |
Furthermore... WHERE'S MY BOURBON!?! |
confirmation is in, ill be there |
well this blows..i didn't realize this was tonight...jsut got joe's email
dammit |
for the record i was supposed to shoot mars volta too
i fucked up my dates.... |
Sorry John, Ben, Erik and John, I'll catch the next one. |
good show, but i hate having to wake up for work. |
I enjoyed every band tonight. Very rare. Amazing fucking show. |
Best show in a long time.
Abhorred started at 9:15 and easily played to 100 people, and the crowd just got bigger as the night went on. Everything went great, and the soundguy did a phenomenal job the whole night. |
Great show! I know a guy who only came for Cephallic and had never heard of the opening bands, but loved them all and now wants to come to their other shows. Isn't that how this thing is supposed to work? Maybe one day we'll actually have people at local shows who aren't in bands! |
shatteredliz said: Maybe one day we'll actually have people at local shows who aren't in bands! |
BWHAHAHAHAHAAAA!! that's a good one
The sound for each band was as good or better than I have ever heard, the sound guy did great, not to mention the bands themselves. Cryptic warning are the most amazing techinical thrash! I've seen them before, but last night they just sounded awesome, and I was especially impressed |
Great show joe! Good bands, good turnout, and I was wasted. Last night was an awesome time. |

are there even people in Greater Boston that aren't in bands??? |
The show was awesome. All the bands rocked. |
Abhorred - I was impressed, good mix of death and old school thrash riffs, lots of energy and very entertaining. They were one of the highlights of the night.
Random Acts - Put on a good, but short set. The highlight once again was the Phil-a-bustin' instrumental "Tom Selleck". I was dissapointed that they didn't play "Unleashing" and also... when they kicked into their cover of "Return Of the Warlord" I was pissed because I thought it was "The Gods Made Heavy Metal" and that is a superior song...which has the same exact intro..and verse...and chorus...anyway entertaining stuff
Cryptic Warning - put on a good show... I was pissed that they continue to forsake the "Snakestrike"... what the hell? But... I can't totally blame them because they had a short set...they got cut off without an encore at their cd release show... lame... soopa lame. I tried to band together some drunks to start a "War-ning" chant but by then they had turned up Rush on the PA...soopa lame.
Cephalic Carnage - at this point I was not in the mood for any more bands no matter what they were, so my judgement of them would be somewhat biased, but I couldn't get into them. Sometimes I'm in a mood for this sort of thing, but by the end of last night, definitely not. We stayed because they are one of Metalguy's favorite bands and I was driving everyone around, but I wasn't really into them at all. There were some amusing parts...especially the singer's rants in between the songs... and I liked some of their stoner rock elements, but overall, not my thing. |
fun show. cryptic ripped it up, so metal. cephalic was fantastic as always. |
rad show, RAOV pwned. CW, dave is still a fret burner. I wasn't too impressed with the sound throughout the night. Cephalic had the worst sound, it just sounded like a wall of noise and the vocals were hardly audible. I moved around to about 5 different locations with no luck. The VHS tape I have of them the last time they played the Mideast even sounds better. |
RAOV's guitar's could've been just a little louder. Other than that, it was good. And Dave's sound was sooooooooo good. Maybe he should ditch the JCM 800 and go with an exact replica of Hooker's setup.
Also, if I had known that I wouldn't have been thrown out for moshing I would done something more energetic than stand there like a douchebag. |
great friggin show thanks so much to joe for hooking me up with the cds that was great. hanging out with cephalic carnage was so sick. |
Abhorred- Pretty good stuff, I liked it..first time ive heard more stuff
Random Acts- AWESOME GUYS, thanks for getting us on your list..me and sean had to jet for the train right after so we couldnt stick around
Cryptic Warning-I joined Al Ravage with the "Warning" chant
Cephalic Carnage-Really brutal, they were so good to finally see live |
Abhorred sounded better than I had ever seen them. Their singer is a fucking mad man. Definitely built for showmanship. Awesome voice too. Only shit I'd say is two things: Floor tuners and lead boosts, dudes.
I had a blast during our set. The crowd seemed catatonic though. What can you do.
Cryptic. Fucking Phil the machine. Back to back sets. Dave ridiculous as usual. I might as well play my guitar with my asscheeks. One of my favorite live sets I've seen in the past year or so definitely.
Cephalic. Never got into them but I have a couple cd's that I traded with the guitar player. I'll be checking those out soon. They were a wall of noise but it was pretty intense and just fun overall watching the crowd.
This show had me euphoric for hours afterwards. It was how things should be fucking done. Monday night and who gives a shit, metal, good crowd, good time. Fuck yes. |

yeah, the sound did suck. it didnt even sound like shit was going through the PA. i was pissed too, cause Cephalic's sound was awful at NEMHF and that's why i wanted to see them again at the Middle East. last time I saw them there the sound was sick.
yes lead boosts would be fantastic |
lead boots would also be good!
fucking awesome show all around. but I agree with Mr. Ravage, random acts could have picked a better Manowar song to cover |
We used to do Brothers of Metal Part 2. I personally would love to do Blood of My Enemies or the Power.
What song would you have rathered?
"Power" definitely... pow-wer...powa powa....pow-weeer...powa powa.....poweeeeeeeeer.....poweeeeeeeeeeeeeeer!
Or "Outlaw"...Phil would love that..."Shot through the heart in the blink of an eye...buried up on boot hill...life is cheap while the bounty is high...so be ready to die!" |
STRONG WINDS!!! MAGIC MIST. |
haha the bass player in the crowd was key |
Tom, I never even saw you at the show.
I saw and talked to the girl in the PORPHYRIA shirt (your gf?) but never saw you once.
Tom was the girl in the Porphyria shirt, duh!
FLASH! AH AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! |
this was one of the most solid shows i've ever been to; i usually don't like shows with only 4 bands, but each band was fucking awesome so i didn't mind.
I had only heard abhorred once before this show, and i must say that seeing them live was fucking awesome. the groove in that band is awesome, keep up the good work.
i hadn't seen RAOV in a long time, and they've improved 10fold since the last time...i'm loving the dual soloing.
cryptic warning makes me want to kill myself because they are so amazing. the new shit is fucking great!!! reminds me of capharnaum mixed with cynic and of course the traditional CW style thrash. the new cd is fucking awesome by the way...i admire the fact that i didn't hear any 2nd guitar tracks under the solos or anything. that's confidence.
thanks for getting me and metal ev on the guest list too! we owe you guyses one.
cephalic carnage ruled, i don't have to go into detail; the bass player is easily the funniest musician ever. the king of the hill theme song made my night. |

HAHA, yeah man, WTF? my gf told me after that she had talked to you and I was like what the hell John was there? I had to avoid the merch area because I've been spending too much money, I still didn't see you. |
This show was amazing.
Abhorred: I fucking love this band, period. Their cd, the live show, all around they're great. My first time seeing them with Josh and he adds so much to their sound.
RAOV: My favorite local band so Im biased, as always they played an awesome set. I couldnt hear too well because I was handling their and our merch table and sitting kinda outta the way. The new songs just keep getting better and better. The Maiden worship in Transfiguration is my favorite. Thanks so much for letting use your amps guys.
CW: I rank this set as among the best experiences of my life and I will definitely never forget this. Thanks so much to everyone in the crowd for the tremendous support they gave us.
CC: So good. Hard to hear the faster, grindier parts but I didnt care, it was still an amazing time. All really nice guys too.
Thanks: to Joe for setting this up and Tom for the pics and everyone who came and supported us or bought our cd.

If you were P. Diddy, I wouldn't make the band!
I was shockedy how many people were there for Abhorred, thank you all very kindly.
RAOV - First time seeing them with Phil, very good. Great performance and showmanship by these boys, it seems to come quite natural for them as well.
Cryptic Warning - Phenominial. I was pumped to see everyone into them so much. I pissed cause I lost my cd I bought, looked everywhere, FUCK!!! SNAKESTRIKE DOOOO IT!
Cephalic Carnage - Awesome as usual. Peacemaker was killer. New material sounded great along with the standard classics. Had the biggest circle I've ever stood in at a show afterwards, woke up stoned, Lenzig is a class act. |
Josh, you are good at losing CDs.
I told you bring them to me and I will hold them and you can grab it at the end of the night.
