This is a smashing debut album from start to finish. There isn’t a bad track anywhere to be found. With such a wealth of variety on hand it is refreshing that this album is able to tackle whatever genre it takes a stab at while not missing a beat along the way. They take a gamble by mixing together so many varying styles but I think it is one that pays off exponentially. I’ve found myself hooked on this disc and it seems to get better with every listen. If you are in the mood for something that takes doom as a starting point and branches out in every direction from there then A Day of Pigs is well worth your time. This is a big surprise even though I knew the band was good in the first place and they only add to the difficulty I’m going to have in making any sort of “Best of 07” release list.
